Our Property

113 - 117 South Main Street is offered For Sale

Why sell?

We’re listing the building for the same reason our last home was listed 30 years ago. Our needs as a business have changed, including how we do business now in new and modern ways, serving members across eight counties.

And like all businesses, we must be thoughtful stewards of financial resources. Our focus should be on driving member value and not serving as a landlord and absorbing the expenses that come with property management and maintaining a 100-plus-year-old building.

How was the decision made?

The Board has been assessing Chamber assets for some time. The decision to list was unanimously approved by the Board after thoughtful discussion and consideration.

What are the terms of the sale?

The property is listed for sale for $500,000. Griffith Realty Group is handling the listing which can be viewed here.

Leadership from the Chamber will begin evaluating offers on or about June 26.

Where is the Chamber going next?

The Chamber is looking for rental space in the Canandaigua area.

Will the next space be owned or leased?

The Chamber will lease a space appropriate to our operations and invest sale proceeds in an endowment to safeguard our future and fulfill our mission to support the success of our members and region.

How will selling affect operations?

New space will allow Chamber staff to focus on the work of adding member value, in a space more appropriate for our current needs, without the pressure of property ownership and management.

On June 7, the Board of Ontario County Chamber of Commerce announced that its property at 113-117 South Main Street in Canandaigua will be listed for sale, on or about June 19. You can view the press release here.

A new location means new opportunities, allowing the Chamber to focus more exclusively on member services and regional engagement, while creating an endowment for the future.

The Chamber has been headquartered in our downtown location for almost 30 years, so we recognize this move is not just strategic, but historic. We own the building – a good position to be in – and we’ve been critically assessing our real estate for some time.

Various considerations including the Chamber’s expanded scope and offerings – and real estate market opportunities including those presented by the development of The Central on Main – make this the right time to transition to a new home in Canandaigua.

We are thrilled to be listing the property with long-time Chamber member and local real estate broker Andy Griffith, who is also a past Board Chair of our Chamber.

We anticipate the listing will go live by June 19 at Griffith-Realty.com

Offers will be accepted on or after June 26.

This step positions the Chamber for a sustainable future of stability, growth and innovation and is much like the decisions our members regularly consider for their own businesses and organizations. Importantly, it also benefits the community by opening the door to a new investor or business in the heart of downtown Canandaigua.
